We are growing up betting told to be strong and smart, to be able to handle everything by ourselves, to be the best at everything. And then, a time comes, where we simply are not as strong or tough. We are vulnerable. This actually has a name: it is called “the quarter-life crisis”.
The world is a rather scary place, especially for 20 something women who try hard to find their place in life. And yes, life can be a bitch sometimes, but ultimately the end goal does not matter that much. It is everything you experienced during the way and the lessons that you learned that define you. At the end of the day, every single one of us is going to fall at some point. Just like the great Diane Von Furstenberg said: ” I have had great success and great failures”.
The world is a playground and we are the players. Even in your greatest failures, do not forget to step up, take a deep breath and start working towards the future that you want for yourself. I might sound like an advertiser paid by DVF here, but quoting Diane again, ” I did not know how I would do it, but I always knew the kind of woman that I wanted to be. And that was an independent woman”. So the next time you mess up badly or just don’t live up to your expectations, remember that in life the most magical things usually come up out of the blue. Work hard, play hard, be patient and be kind.
Some things in life, like maths and physics, are always meant to be complicated. But there are some other things that even if you do want to understand, you just can’t. Men are just one of them.
How is a woman supposed to act in the post-Carrie Bradshaw era, when things seem to be less romantic and more casual? When did our list of the perfect man become a single word and the handsome, polite prince became just any guy who is not a total jerk? We might only be in our twenties, but my friends and I could not help it but question our love life these days.
Somewhere between our first job applications, our university courses and our dreams of travelling the world, love is totally forgotten. You have to care too much about how you look, how to be the best in what you do, how to fulfil your ambitions, that there’s simply no time left for anything else. We have been constantly told that in life you can’t have everything. So why would a 20something woman obsess about a guy more than a career and a Dior bag? Maybe prince charming is waiting at the end of the road. Until then, there’s always Dior.
As we all know ( or at least should know) the fashion month just ended with the last fashion week being that of Paris. Paris is one of my favourite cities around the world and i can tell you two things about it. First of all, it is undeniably fabulous. Second, I can’t wait to go there again. You see the thing with Paris is that wherever you look there it is, a place that an interesting story may have taken place. Whether you are exploring the Marais, having a coffee in Montmartre, walking by the Seine or shopping at the exquisite boutiques of Champ Elysees, Paris will never let you down. Some days i wake up feeling very Parisian for some reason. I wear my most romantic black outfits, hold my Givenchy clutch and listen to Pink Martini and Edith Piaf. “Parisian Chic: A Style Guide” by the style icon Ines de la Fressange is actually one of my favourite reads of all time. I have always admired her effortless sense of style, the same sense that other notable French fashion legends such as Carine Roitfeld and Emanuelle Alt share. There are lots of things about Paris that inspire me and I’ll be sharing some with you. I wake up feeling Parisian after all. Disclaimer: At times I wake up feeling Milanese, Londoner, Roman or Athenian. God i love Europe**

I’ve recently seen a movie called W.E and I truly fell in love with the style showcased in it. The clothes looked elegant and simple, but the jewellery did all the talking. There are certain items of clothing that everyone should own. Combined with different statement pieces they can create a new outfit every time. We often tend to impulse buy items that we do not really need and we totally forget that best thing we can do to our image is to invest in certain simple but luxurious items.
In my opinion, every woman needs the following:
- A pair of dark or black jeans with a great fit
- a little black dress
- a mariniere
- a great watch
- diamond stud earrings
- a quality designer day bag and a clutch for events
- a trenchcoat
- black or nude pumps
- a great pair of boots It’s really not that difficult to dress nicely if you own these basic items. They can get dressed up or down and be found even from high street brands. Keep it simple and you can not go wrong.
